There is absolutely nothing like warm, fresh, homemade bread! These soft pitas are incredibly easy to make from scratch, puff up beautifully in the pan, and make the perfect pocket for all your favorite fillings and dips.


🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 Cup (240ml) warm water
  • 2 Tsp instant yeast
  • 1 Tsp sugar
  • 2 3/4 Cup (355g) flour
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tsp salt

👩‍🍳 How to Make It

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, instant yeast, and sugar. Stir well and let it sit for a minute.
  2. Form the Dough: Add in your flour, oil, and salt. Knead the mixture together until you form a smooth, elastic dough.
  3. First Rest: Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let the dough rest in a warm spot for 2-3 hours until it has beautifully doubled in size.
  4. Shape & Rest: Punch the dough down and divide it into 8 evenly sized little balls. Cover them and let them rest for another 30 minutes.
  5. Flatten & Fry: On a lightly floured surface, gently flatten and roll each ball out into a circle. Fry them in a dry pan over medium heat until they puff up and get nice golden spots on both sides.
  6. Keep 'em Soft: Crucial step! As soon as they come out of the pan, keep them wrapped in a clean kitchen towel so the steam keeps them incredibly soft and warm.
