Expert Barista's Latte

Ingredients:

  • 18g of finely ground coffee
  • 150ml of cold milk (preferably whole milk)
  • 30ml of freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)
  • cocoa powder for dusting (optional)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • espresso machine
  • steam wand
  • milk frother
  • measuring cup
  • ceramic mug

Instructions:

  • Start by grinding the coffee beans finely and tamping them down into the portafilter.
  • Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine and brew a shot of espresso (30ml).
  • While the espresso is brewing, pour the cold milk into a steaming pitcher.
  • Insert the steam wand into the milk and start steaming, creating microfoam by positioning the wand just below the surface.
  • Once the milk is heated to around 65°C (149°F), turn off the steam and swirl the milk gently in the pitcher to mix the foam.
  • Pour the hot espresso into a ceramic mug, followed by the steamed milk, holding back the foam with a spoon until the end.
  • Once the milk is poured, spoon the foam on top of the latte.
  • Dust with cocoa powder if desired and serve immediately.
