Gluten-free Dutch Apple Pie with Streusel Crust

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 100g gluten-free flour
  • 50g almond flour
  • 70g brown sugar
  • 75g butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine gluten-free flour, almond flour, 50g of brown sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and rub it in until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a pie dish to form the crust, then place it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, remaining brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
  • Pour the apple mixture into the chilled pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining streusel mixture over the top of the apples.
  • Brush the edges of the crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
